Certified Bureau of Pedestrian Signal Timing. Est. 2026. Every request logged, every window recalculated.
The Bureau of Pedestrian Signal Timing exists to formalize an act pedestrians have performed unsupervised for over a century: standing at a corner, pressing a button, and waiting. We now log it.
Upon request, the Bureau estimates a walk window using proprietary municipal timing models, live cross-traffic modeling, and a reasonable amount of guessing. This estimate is revised as often as necessary, and it is always necessary.
No walk window, however diligently counted down, may reach zero. Bureau charter reserves the value zero for a future signal not yet timed. This is described internally as prudent.
Pressing the button again does not expedite your request. It is, however, logged, filed, and quietly appreciated. The Bureau thanks you for your continued presence at the corner and notes that the intersection is watching too.
